Our Weekend

This weekend was nasty. It rained - no, it poured - all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday.

So Saturday, it rained all day. As most of you know we're in the process of slowly renovating our house, starting with the master bath. Well, we started renovations last weekend. 3 days the hubby worked 12+ hours on it. And it still wasn't finished. The people who built this house were lazy and nothing was squared or plumbed or built right. Go figure. Anyway, Saturday was going to be the day that the hubs finished the project. His best friend was coming to help. But, as with most projects, things didn't go as planned. The good news is, they got the sheet rock back up and tile on the floor. But the stupid glue still isn't dry. Why, you wonder...Rain. All this ridiculous rain.

So we're still without a working bathroom. We have Bug's bathroom, but she doesn't have a shower - just a bath. So we do have a toilet and sink...but we don't have a shower...

Anyway, this brings us to Sunday. We're getting ready for church (running late as always) and go to put the dog in the basement (he's not allowed to stay upstairs while we're away because he ruins things) when the hubs yells up and informs me the basement has flooded.

Seriously?

Yes. Seriously. So that nixes the idea of the hubs going to church. He now must fix what the rain has gifted us with. Water all throughout the basement.

I've got to keep an eye on it today as well, seeing as the rain has not stopped

Oh well. Here's hoping the rain stops. The tile dries. And the sun comes out. I need a good sunshine-y day. And a good sunshine-y weekend. We need to paint the outside of this house before our windows come in!

Here's a sneak peak of the bathroom with tile :)

Mondays.

A while ago I had posted something about a schedule to help me keep up with cleaning. It hasn't happened. I don't know what happened but something has. Life has gotten in the way. I don't know exactly what part of life, so that makes the excuse "life happened" kinda lame. So in attempts to pick up the slack, I'm going to jump back on the horse and start with my schedule again (if only I can find it).

On another note: I got my person to "send something good" to!! I'm so excited to get "to know" this person and come up with little goodies to send to them! But this is a secret so that's all I'm going to say for now. Oh. And I can't wait until I find out who mine is!

Here's to another week of work. Only 22 days until DISNEY!

And here's a sneak peak from the photo shoot that the hubs and I did Saturday taken by my amazing friend Hannah! Not only is she an awesome photographer but also an A.MA.ZING writer! A girl of many talents I tell ya.

Hello Friday

It's very nice to see you. You came slower than I expected, but nonetheless, you have arrived. Now for the weekend. I will spend the weekend with my love and my best friends. It will be filled with fun, laughter, and lots of photography. So here's to to the fun. The laughs. And the weekend. I leave you with this awesome video from these amazing doctors.

Skin. It's a beautiful thing. Wear it well.

I haven't seen you in ages...

Thank you Lady A for putting that song on repeat inside my head.

Last week was spring break. As you know from my post here. This morning it was back to work I go. I woke up at my normal time, went through the typical morning routine (shower, brush teeth, dress, make coffee, make lunch, drink coffee, kiss the hubs goodbye, try not to fall asleep while driving to work...you know, the typical morning routine), made it to work, survived the morning without phones or bells, went through the day, found out we're losing 5 teachers due to allotments, took care of my mom's dog, went grocery shopping, rested/updated the blog design (I get bored easily, can you tell?), and now I'm updating while waiting on water to boil. Oh the joys of life. We're back to normal.

But that was today.

Yesterday of course was Easter Sunday. It was a whirlwind of a day. We spent the night in Rome with the in-laws so that we wouldn't have to leave the house at 5 in the morning to make it for their annual sunrise service. It was a beautiful sunrise. Of course, I didn't have my camera. But it was beautiful, you can just take my word for it.
Then it was off to our church. I had to serve in the nursery during the 9am service. It was such a blessing to spend the morning with precious little ones. I just love them. The hubs arrived for the 11am service and relieved me of my duties (also known as dragged me away). It was a wonderful service. It began with a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace played on the saxophone. I'm still in awe of it. Then our pastor preached it. He is risen!
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures
(1 Corinthians 15:3, 4 NIVUK)
Next it was off to my parents for lunch. Ribs. Delish. I love ribs. Especially my dad's ribs. I drool over them and request them any chance I can get.
We finished off the day at the hubs's grandmother's house (I guess she'd be the grandmother-in-law). We spent some more time with his parents, cousins, aunt, sister-in-law, and nieces. It was lovely. We had an egg hunt for the little ones, and all in all just enjoyed each other's company.

I was exhausted by the time we got home, I wanted to immediately fall asleep. But I was a good girl and waited until "normal time" before I fell into my whims.

Alas, I hear the water boiling. Time to finish cooking. I'll end this post with some of the pictures I did get over the weekend. We went strawberry picking. Yummy!

A hiking we will go.

Saturday the hubs and I went hiking for our date day. It was rather fun! We hiked probably around 6 miles. I am so sore! It was a beautiful day for a hike. Not too hot and not too cold. Just right. I did get a little sun burnt from the day. Who knew that I could get a sunburn in March! It's been crazy weather, but I do love it!

This Weather.

I'm absolutely in love with this weather. Yes, I know, with this weather comes this ridiculous yellow stuff called pollen, but this weather is well worth it! I love the feeling of the sun on my skin, the cool breeze blowing, the smell of the flowers blooming. Also, the smell of rain. I love the smell of rain. As I'm typing this, I've got the window open and the breeze is carrying the smell of rain right to me. It's perfect.

Today after work I met the hubs and we went and dropped off some firewood for our church's youth retreat at a campground. I got to explore while he labored unloading the firewood. It was an absolutely lovely day!

It was a perfect start to our weekend. Tomorrow is date day!

Weekend in Review -- Instagram Edition

This weekend was a relaxing one.
The weather was beautiful on Sunday so we spent the day outside.

It was nice just to sit outside and relax.

The hubs played baseball with our furry child.
It was so much fun to watch.
I admit I laughed when he hit over the fence.

Then hubs decided to cut down a tree in the back yard.
Our furry son wanted to play and not cut down the tree.
It was quite comedic.

While the hubs did all the work I sat and read.
Sherlock Holmes kept me company.

The day ended at Cracker Barrel.
Yay for their fried apples being gluten free!

Off Grid - Weekend Recap

I feel like I've been missing. I didn't open my computer once this weekend, nor did I have much time to sit down and do much typing this past week. Things have been crazy. Or rather they were crazy. Last week was insane. This weekend was focused on relaxing and recouping.

In going with the theme of relaxation, I refused to open my computer and turn it on. It was lovely. Of course I had my phone to check up on emails and such, but that was my only form of internet communication.

But here it is. Monday. I'm back on the computer. Back to updating and note taking and pinning and sharing. Back to life...

This weekend we went to Rome. I spent a relaxing day with the best friend. And...we finished my chair! Remember this? Well I finally picked out my fabric, and set to work (along with my best friend) recovering those ugly cushions.

It just looks so much cleaner, brighter, and all around it just looks happier.

We also put up those pallet shelves that we worked on last weekend. I'm in love with the whole look!

The picture is just a quick one I snapped with my phone, so the quality isn't the best. I'll have more pictures up for everyone to see as soon as my camera battery charges.

I hope everyone's weekend was as relaxing and rewarding as mine was! I know I needed and I can only imagine that y'all did as well.

Weekend in Review

This weekend was all about me and the hubs. After not seeing each other all week long, it's nice to be able to spend the weekend together, working side by side and focusing on spending time with each other.

Saturday we both worked around the house. I made these:

And then the hubs and I worked together and transformed a pallet into these:

(1 of 3)

It was wonderful to work alongside my hubby. I love when we are able to do stuff like that.

Saturday night we cuddled on the couch and watched the Princess Bride. This is our all time favorite movie. We love this movie and can quote it back and forth to each other.

Sunday was church day. But again. We were together. It was a wonderful weekend spent working alongside my wonderful husband. I absolutely love it.

In other news...Today I got these:

I'm so excited and ready!

Weekend in Review

Well. Tomorrow is Monday (Or today depending on where you're reading this from). The weekend has been uneventful but full of accomplishments - on my end that is.

Yesterday, we hung out and ate lunch at a good friend's house and learned about a possible new business opportunity (more to come on that later). We had amazing potato soup and artichoke dip and just hung out and explored ideas. Now it's time for us to trust God to lead us down the right path.

Then it was off on a Walmart trip for dog food and other odds and ends. When we got home I set to work on the craft room/future nursery. It had been our crap junk room since the day we've moved in and I was sick of it. So out went the boxes and in went the amazing things. Now the room is open and airy and I feel like I can get back to crafting in there! I'm so excited about it. (Before and after pictures to come)

Today was church and I got to love on some babies. This is not helping my baby fever and the hubs is not happy about that ;) Oh well. When the LORD gives us children I'll be ready and excited (the sooner the better though ;) )

Then we went to lunch at the hubs's grandmother's house. We had yummy borscht (it was clearly the perfect cold weekend for soup) and got to enjoy some time sitting there and listening to her story. She was rescued during WWII and brought to the United States. It's just amazing to listen to her tell what she went through and how God provided for her throughout her time in the camps.

So all in all, the weekend was a good one. Not too busy, but things did get accomplished. Now it's on to Monday and a new week.

Cold weekends mean there's a fire in the fireplace, something my dog absolutely loves.
Yes, he is laying on the hearth. Strange, I know.

100th Day!

Today was the 100th day of school only 78 more to go! We celebrated all day long. It was fun to see what the kids brought in to represent 100 things. I think the top 2 were a hate with 100 random items glued to it and a milk jug turned hedgehog with 100 small pine cone things on top of it. Both were incredibly creative and the kids were so proud of their creations! Have I mentioned lately that I love my job? Working with K and 1 is the best. They are presh and they bring a smile to my face daily.

Just because I love my job so much though, doesn't mean I'm not super ready for the weekend! This was our first full week back in like a month and a half, so I'm thankful for the weekend break. This weekend brings a quick trip to SC to visit the dentist grandparents. Then yoga with the best friend. And church with the hubs. I'm so ready and excited! This weekend is going to be filled with fun and relaxation (I hope).

Do y'all have any fun plans for the weekend?

Weekend

My weekend consists of cleaning and doing laundry. Things I might have forgotten neglected during this crazy week. Maybe I can throw in some thrifting and crafting amidst the cleaning.

13 January 2012

It's Friday...

...and I'm exhausted. It's taken a lot longer to get back into the swing of things than I ever thought possible. I feel like I've left my mind back in break, and I honestly don't know when it's going to catch up with me. But today is Friday, and it's a three day weekend.

This weekend I'm going to my grandparent's house for a belated Christmas and birthday with them. This is one of those things that I completely forgot about. It just seemed to slip through my mind with all of the other things that I've forgotten about. But today is Friday, and it's a three day weekend.

On a happy note, hubs gets to join me in this three day weekend. So when he gets done with work tonight we get three days off together (minus the whole going-to-grandma's thing, I almost forgot again) until Monday night. It will be nice to relax with him after finally feeling better. And hey, today is Friday and it's a three day weekend.

Do you notice a theme here? Thank goodness it's Friday. Now I want to watch Disney movies and curl up with the hubs with hot chocolate and a fire roaring in the fireplace.

Here's to a relaxing weekend.
