Rainbows

Rainbows are beautiful. They hold so much meaning. They signify a promise. They represent hope after a storm.

Just a few days before Christmas, we received our rainbow...

As I sit here typing this out, I'm terrified. Terrified that though everything seems right, something might be wrong and we'll lose this precious rainbow. But I trust God. He will give us the desires of our hearts and he is keeping our baby safe.  

So today marks week 13 (plus 1 day) and we are truly excited and feel so blessed to be pregnant once again!

Blog Post - and a Happy Valentine's Day!

Do you ever have a blog post written in your head, then when you sit down to write it, it magically disappears? That seems to be happening to me more and more lately. Can I still blame the baby brain? 

I do blame it on the chaotic schedule and the inability to blog as often as I'd like.

Even as I type this, Bug is in her crib trying her darn-dest not to sleep; i.e. crying loudly. I'm trying to let her cry it out right now. It's an hour past bedtime. She's been rocked, nursed, kissed, and prayed over. Nothing seems to do the trick though. I know she's tired. She's just refusing to sleep. Right now we've been going on an every other day schedule. She'll have a great night's sleep, then the next it'll be another one where she fights sleep and then she's up every few hours. Stupid molars. It makes me hurt for her.

This whole crying it out thing is hard. I hate hearing her cry. We've taken to bringing her back out after a while and letting her lay down on my chest while we watch the Olympics with all the lights turned out. It seems to calm her a little until we all go to bed. 

Anyway...Happy Valentine's Day to all and to all a good night!

Old Wives Tales

Anyone who's been pregnant, been related to someone pregnant, known someone pregnant, or seen someone pregnant, know that there are many people out there who put stock into those Old Wives Tales.

When I was pregnant with Bug, so many people would take one look at me and tell me with 100% certainty that I was having a boy. I carried her right out front, and it really did look like I had a basketball under my shirt. When I told them, "nope, it's a girl" they would look at me in awe. They were so sure they had guessed correctly based on the simple way I was carrying.

I for one, don't put too much stock into the Old Wives Tales. They were hit or miss for me with Bug. Actually, most of them said boy. Clearly, they were very wrong.

How did the Old Wives Tales stand up to your pregnancy? Were they correct? Or dead wrong like they were with mine?

The weather has been so crazy lately we've tried to get outside every chance we get! Bug just loves to get out and play. She's taken to walking to do the door and reaching for the door handle (yes, she can reach it!) and then looking back at me as if to tell me "Come on, Mom! Let's go play!"

See what I mean? She loves being outside!

When we can't get outside, we make use of Bug's new playroom. She's like a tornado in there and absolutely loves it!

For her birthday, we got her this new chair. She absolutely loves having her very own chair to sit and play in!

We love playing peek-a-boo through the window!

Another favorite in the playroom is composing on Daddy's keyboard. She loves to sit there and play the keys. I personally think she has something going there! We might have a little musician on our hands!
