Christmas Traditions

For Jo's first Christmas, we decided on a present tradition for the kids:

Something I want
Something I need
Something to wear
and
Something to read

They also get an ornament on the day we go and get our Christmas tree, as well as pajamas and a Christmas book on Christmas Eve.

For Jo's Christmas it was easy knowing what she may want and we knew what she needed. Her wear and read are things that I always have fun looking for and picking the perfect thing out for her.

Here's how Jo's presents broke down:

Want:

Jo loves using our Norwex mop and always has to help us sweep, so it was obvious that getting her a Kids Norwex mop would be the perfect thing. And boy, were we right! She loves her new mop!

Need:
Okay...so maybe this need was more for my sake than her's, but we desperately needed a place to store her crayons and art supplies.

Wear:

My girl loves her kitty cats, so I thought a kitty cat dress would be perfect for her.

Read:

If you are ever in the market for a new children's book, I can't recommend this one enough! God Made Light is a wonderful book and I find myself with tears in my eyes every time I read this book to my girl. She seems to enjoy it too. But seriously, I LOVE this book!

James kind of got the short end of the stick for his first Christmas:

Want:

Jo had the Minnie Mouse version of this rattle and loved it, so it was only fitting that we got one for James as well.

Need:

The mat we had for James was on its last leg due to his big sister sitting on the arches, so it was time to invest in a new one. So far he seems to love it, which is more to say than the last mat.

Wear:

We had to get him a pair of Carhartt overalls! And they are just the absolute cutest!

Read:

the Story of Ferdinand just seemed fitting for my little boy's first Christmas. I look forward to reading this to him many times over the next few years.

Do y'all have any present traditions when it comes to your family?

Family Pictures

My Christmas gift this year was a family picture session. It was great to finally capture our little family of four.

Here are just a few of my favorites:

This little guy and those BIG cheeks! I just love him!

Notice the "PupPup" in her hand? You'll notice it in many of the pictures.

This is my favorite picture. It now resides in an 11x14 print on my wall (another part of my Christmas present). I'm debating on getting a bigger canvas print though...

This little girl made me a mommy. She has my stubbornness, adventurous spirit, and love of kitty cats. I love watching her grow up and discover. She's learning more each and every day.

I'll share more pictures once Christmas presents have been given. I don't want to ruin the fun pictures.

Life has been rather chaotic as of late. The hubs has started yet another job, so we're trying to settle into routine once again. These two littles aren't the biggest fans of having their schedules altered, and to be honest, their mama isn't either. But we're making it work one day at a time, even if we can't remember what day it is most of the time.

This is the first time in a very long time that I've been able to get a moment to myself. The boy has finally started going to sleep at a semi-reasonable hour, but the girl has been boycotting. The past week, I've been up close to 1am with one or the other child. It's like they're playing a game called just how little sleep can Mommy last on? They're already conspiring against me! Such silly kiddos.

But, boy, do I love them!

When life hands you peppermints

It must be Christmastime.

I would be breastfeeding during Christmas. This means no peppermint for me...
or rather very little peppermint. And of course I'd crave all things peppermint when
I can't have any of it. That's the way life works isn't it?

Oh well. It's worth it to skip out on the peppermint. I'm happy to be able to
breastfeed my son and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

And of course when life gives you a break (ie both babies are sleeping) and you
have time to blog about life, your mind goes blank.

So I have both babies in bed, a cat in my lap, and the Ultimate Christmas Present on Disney. It's a bit of a throwback. I remember watching this movie when it first came out
14 years ago! Does anybody else remember this movie?

As much as I'd like to write something profound and meaningful, sometimes I just can't. I just want to laugh and ramble. I guess that is what this post is for. To laugh and ramble. Because we all need moments where life is nonsense and that is okay.

I blame it on the lack of sleep.
