Mommy Moments Blog Hop!

Welcome to Mommy Moments! We hope you all a week filled with wonderful memories! Let's keep it up by sharing and promoting Mommy Moments and the wonderful community we have here! I have enjoyed getting to know all the new mamas linking up and sharing their lives with us! I can't wait to hear more from you all again this week!

Motherhood has its seriousness and frustration as well as its laughs. That's why we are here. Life is much easier when traveled with companions! So mamas, let's join together in the spirit of motherhood and share our moments together. We want to hear the happy, sad, tough, terrible, hilarious moments that make being a mother the best job in the world!

The top viewed link last week belongs to Saved by Grace and her post Beware of Scenic Overlooks. Laurie shares in this post how even the beautiful things in our lives can be dangerous distractions from the kingdom of God! Her post is a great reminder to always keep our eyes fixed on Him!

It's no surprise that the top viewed post this week belongs to our lovely mama Heather from A Beautiful Ministry.  She recently welcomed sweet baby Liya Evangeline into the world and she is absolutely perfect! Make sure you stop by to congratulate Heather along with the rest of our new Mommy Moments babies if you haven't had that chance! We are in love with all these new sweet faces around us :)

My Word: 2015

My word for 2015. Growth.

I want to see myself grow in all areas of my life.

In my relationships:

with God - to accomplish this, I'm following the She Reads Truth app in their journey through the Bible. In all my years, I've never read through the Bible! I'm excited to tackle that this year. I'm hoping to update once a month (I'd say once a week, but who are we kidding) on here and post my progress. I'd love for you to join me in this journey and share your progress here with me!

with my husband - the hubs is currently working non-stop and going to school on top of it all, we hardly ever see each other. Plus, with two kids now demanding my attention, it's hard to get any time with just the two of us. I want to grow in serving him. Though we may not see him, I can still serve him. His love language is acts of service. I want to be better at picking up after a long day, putting the dishes away, cooking, all the stuff that I end up looking over after a long hard day of screaming children.

my children - here's to 2015 and spending more time doing with my kids. Jo is at a wonderful of age where she loves to discover new things. I want to explore more with her and show James the world. So here's to more trips to the park and around town!

Jobs:

mom - I love being a mom. It is the best job in the world. But I still feel like I need to grow in this area (no, that doesn't mean that we're adding another little one to the family in 2015). I don't know what that means, but I do feel that tugging to change the way I do things. To not be quick to anger, to be okay with both of my babies making a mess, to smile and laugh more and play more, to put down my phone!

homemaker - this goes back to showing my love and serving the hubs through acts of service. I'm honestly not the best homemaker. I have my moments, but lately, I've let the things fall through the cracks. Laundry is the bane of my existence. It doesn't help that the washer and dryer is in the deep, dark, scary basement that's hard to get to with Jo wanting to follow me everywhere and James screaming. I'm going to take it one day at a time, but I'm bound and determined to get into a routine with that stinkin' laundry!

Norwex - I'm still in love with this company and I want to share it with the world! The green cleaning and the ease of cleaning is just amazing! I want to spread the world and help people get rid of their chemicals.

Health:

running - I need to get back into shape. Having two babies in less than 2 years did a number on my body. No surprise there. To do this, I want to start running. Knowing myself, I need motivation. And what's more motivating than a trip to Disney?! So here's my public announcement: I'm going to be running the 2016 Disney Princess Half Marathon. I have a year to train and prepare, but I'm stoked. There really is no better motivation for me than Disney. Now I just have to pinch my pennies so I can afford the registration fee.

What are your goals for 2015? Do you have a word that you want to represent 2015?
Here's we hold true to our words and that 2015 is the best year yet!

Christmas Traditions

For Jo's first Christmas, we decided on a present tradition for the kids:

Something I want
Something I need
Something to wear
and
Something to read

They also get an ornament on the day we go and get our Christmas tree, as well as pajamas and a Christmas book on Christmas Eve.

For Jo's Christmas it was easy knowing what she may want and we knew what she needed. Her wear and read are things that I always have fun looking for and picking the perfect thing out for her.

Here's how Jo's presents broke down:

Want:

Jo loves using our Norwex mop and always has to help us sweep, so it was obvious that getting her a Kids Norwex mop would be the perfect thing. And boy, were we right! She loves her new mop!

Need:
Okay...so maybe this need was more for my sake than her's, but we desperately needed a place to store her crayons and art supplies.

Wear:

My girl loves her kitty cats, so I thought a kitty cat dress would be perfect for her.

Read:

If you are ever in the market for a new children's book, I can't recommend this one enough! God Made Light is a wonderful book and I find myself with tears in my eyes every time I read this book to my girl. She seems to enjoy it too. But seriously, I LOVE this book!

James kind of got the short end of the stick for his first Christmas:

Want:

Jo had the Minnie Mouse version of this rattle and loved it, so it was only fitting that we got one for James as well.

Need:

The mat we had for James was on its last leg due to his big sister sitting on the arches, so it was time to invest in a new one. So far he seems to love it, which is more to say than the last mat.

Wear:

We had to get him a pair of Carhartt overalls! And they are just the absolute cutest!

Read:

the Story of Ferdinand just seemed fitting for my little boy's first Christmas. I look forward to reading this to him many times over the next few years.

Do y'all have any present traditions when it comes to your family?
